Stephen King’s IT did NOT translate well to film. Jacbo’s Ladder is more surreal and cerebral than scary, Twin Peaks I only vaguely remember. Though Silent Hill was extremely influenced by the likes of Twin Peaks and Jacob’s Ladder.

I still woulda called it a poor man’s Alan Wake even without it banking on the Silent Hill namesake.

Japan has had very racy, gorey, and cheesy B movies too along with its’ more thoughtful & refined fright fests.

To assume one part on the globe produces nothing but “good stuff” is biased short sighted stupidity.

Have any of you watched or read Stephen King’s IT? Have you Rented Jacob’s ladder? Sat through the series Kingdom Hospital or Twin Peaks? All American stuff and not your generic run of the mill buckets of blood torture sex.

Shattered memories wove a good enough story. It’s only error was calling itself Silent Hill. If you forget the SH in the title there is a good game to be found underneath the ice and wailing cubist mannequins.

Honesly Climax should have started from scratch and launched their own survival horror franchise instead of riding Konami’s coat tails.

Climax is actually a British company. Thank God. I was ashamed to be American for a second.

Anyway, it’s not that it isn’t Silent Hill 1, it’s not even Silent Hill. The town has no purpose, it isn’t supernatural, it has no hand in any of this. They could have changed the name of the town and the characters and released the game under a different title and you’d never even know it was supposed to be a Silent Hill game. If anything you’d think it was a rip off of Alan Wake.

I understood the ending, but I still think it was just a lame attempt to circumvent the “lets do Silent Hill 2’s twist ending again” thing by merely switching the roles.

Seriously, this is your review summed up in one sentence:

“This isn’t Silent Hill 1 with updated graphics. Wah wahh.”
