I know when I was little I went through a phase of ridiculous dressup fun and painting ourselves in makeup so awful that, if it were on someone older, even a streetwalker would have been ashamed of.

I’m not sure how much fun it would be on a DS though. I think there’s at least a couple of ‘casual’ games where you run a beauty salon and therefore get to do makeup on lots of people, which could be vaguely entertaining for a few minutes I suppose… especially if you have the option of doing it really badly for the lulz.

I’ve checked out a couple of the Imagine games for research purposes (I am in the game industry). The ones I’ve seen are pretty frustrating, because they’re *close* to being playable games, and then shoot themselves in the foot. And since nobody bothers to review them, nobody who wants to play these games has any way to know if they’re any good.

Some parents will go into a store and grab whatever looks vaguely targeted at their child. It’s understandable, you don’t expect them to be experts if they don’t play games. But shouldn’t SOMEONE review these games so parents can know that Imagine Ballet Star is a better choice than Elf Bowling? (Whether your kid is a boy or not!)

The best thing that My Make-up game could do is be a DSi game so at least the kids could put the virtual makeup on pictures of themselves or their friends, instead of on an interchangeable video game character.
